1. Who We Are

The Local's Choice ("we", "us", or "our") operates a local business directory connecting residents with trusted home service providers across Canada and the United States. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information in the following ways:

  • Business applicants: name, email address, phone number, business name, city, website, and service details submitted through our application form.
  • Quote requests: name, email, phone number, and message submitted through a business's lead form.
  • Account holders: email address and password (stored securely via Supabase Auth).
  • Usage data: pages visited, browser type, and general location via standard server logs. We do not use third-party analytics trackers.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To process business applications and create directory listings.
  • To forward quote requests to the relevant business owner.
  • To send transactional emails (account setup, payment confirmations, lead notifications).
  • To operate, maintain, and improve the platform.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not send marketing emails without your consent.

4. Sharing of Information

We share information only where necessary:

  • Business owners: when you submit a quote request, your name, email, phone, and message are forwarded to that business.
  • Service providers: we use Supabase (database and auth), Stripe (payments), and Resend (email delivery). Each processes data only as needed to provide their service.
  • Legal requirements: we may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights.

5. Data Retention

Business listing data is retained while the listing is active. Lead and application data is retained for up to 24 months for record-keeping purposes. You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us.

6. Cookies

  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the email below.

8. Security

We use industry-standard security practices including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure authentication via Supabase, and access controls. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children's Privacy

Our platform is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
